Whilst looking for a web site that covered all types of water sports in a single site failing to find one that encompassed them led to the creation of www.watersportswales.co.uk which has been updated over time to the site you see today.
This web site is the work of David Richards a passionate enthusiast for all water based sports,
Having been on the water from an early age David has tried out most sports and has chosen to take qualifications in several including
- Advanced Powerboat. (instructor)
- Powerboat 2 (instructor)
- SRC VHF
- Day Skipper, watch Leader
- First Aid
- Sea Survival
- Yachtmaster theory
- Canoe level 3
Some of David’s experiences range from his early years in Milford Haven where he was able to handle everything from a small inflatable up to a 52tf twin screw ex naval boat.
Building his own canoe a Blandford designed PBK20 frame and canvas design which he along with a friend won the year 2000 Usk River race.
Other experiences include Cruiser Sailing, Windsurfing, Surfing, Dinghy Sailing, Snorkelling and Motor Boating in many different areas of Wales.
David can now usually be found on weekends in the Cardiff Bay and Bristol Channel area where he is a current member of the Cardiff Bay Yacht Club and Helm on Bay Island Voyages fast boat rides.
Also as professionally qualified photographer David has produced many award winning images some of which have features in both Local and Nations publications and can be found at www.watersportsimages.co.uk which is how this site is funded.
Having contacts across a number of different water sports activities allows David to call on experts in the various sports to contribute to this site and to keep it as fresh as possible and also to be able to point people who enquire directly to him to sports providers across the Mid and South Wales regions.
